John W. Bullis was born in 1881 and grew up in Valentine, Nebraska. At the age of twenty, John received his embalmers license from Embalmers School in Pennsylvania.
John and wife, Lucilla, moved to Hardin in 1914. One of the reasons they moved to Hardin was that a dam was going to be built on the Bighorn River. John purchased Johnston Hardware and Furniture Store and began operating the first funeral parlor in Big Horn County.
In 2014, the Bullis family celebrated 100 years of serving our community. The business remains in the Bullis family and this exhibit is a tribute to their commitment to our area.
